Small Friendly Local Salon in Outwood Common Billericay.

We want you to love your hair, and look forward to every visit at Serendipity hair studio. There are no strangers in our salon just friends we have yet to meet. No one should ever feel awkward or out of place at Serendipity, just relax, unwind and enjoy a little you time. Although we love to chat we also know that sometimes peace and quiet is priceless! Just let us know if you would prefer this.

The meaning of Serendipity: When you find good things without looking for them, Serendipity — unexpected good luck — has brought them to you.

Serendipity does not come from Latin or Greek, but rather was created by a British nobleman in the mid 1700s from an ancient Persian fairy tale. The meaning of the word, good luck in finding valuable things unintentionally, refers to the fairy tale characters who were always making discoveries through chance. You can thank serendipity if you find a pencil at an empty desk just at you walk into an exam and realize that you forgot yours.

Staff

Sonja - Senior State Registered Hairdresser.

I have been in the trade for +38 years and am fully qualified to NVQ level 3. I served a 2 year apprenticeship followed by a year of improving, after which I worked as a stylist in a large international salon. After having my children I worked as a mobile hairdresser, once they were a little older I also worked in a barbershop alongside my mobile clients. I have taught hairdressing in a local college, where I took courses in a variety of hair and beauty treatments, including nails, massage and eyebrows. I loved every minute of it only leaving to live in USA for 3 years with my family. In 2011 I started 'Sonja's Barbershop On Wheels' I won the 'Essex Business Excellence Awards for Innovation' in 2012. After 3 happy years with my Barbershop On Wheels I sold it and went mobile again with ‘Hair By Sonja’ alongside working two days a week in a local Basildon Salon. I opened Serendipity Hair Studio in 2015. I keep my skills up to date by social media and at least once a year taking a new course. I've completed hair art, ace of fades, extension, various health and safety and beauty courses.
